From the liner notes (written from the perspective of Robert): Through the years I seemed to have acquired quite a huge unyielding mass of recordings as well as a multitude of other unmentionable crap and artifacts. They seem to lay In piles and boxes and in heaps-My crap is a hinderance and overwhelming. I felt doing this retrospective was in essence a musical spring cleaning (created during winter)-Out of 100s of 4 track tapes, Protools sessions, Dats and adats I randomly picked these tracks not because their better then some of the others but according to my Oblique Strategy cards "water" ????. I feel some of the stuff is surprisingly good whilst others almost mortifying but then again so are many things in life and it stands somewhat as an unstable document of the various dimensions KLS had narrowly avoided and some haphazardly destroyed.. I know most bands have tons of stuff that ends up sitting in closets and storage and accordingly never heard... I felt that its all up to each individual ear to distinguish what's good and what's not.. I cant imagine anyone liking everything on the Cdr. some might even find it downright brilliant!? it comprises early demos, out takes, noise, botched attempts, Sickly sweet tracks in process, alt versions, original formulations and even some of Andrews acoustic pieces- So dig as you will- edit it down on itunes or don't even listen to it at all..spare me the hate mail I'm really sensitive obsessive and sleep very little these days "lest most of the time". 7" mastered by Thomas Dimuzio, who was really cool. Covers printed by Imprint, whose coolness extends bounds. Records pressed by Erika Records, who take a rock-n-roll approach. The CDR includes a bunch of outtakes, noise and crap that they would never release. Consider yourself warned. |
